I'm curious to know if anyone has backed this game. Only because i've always been on the fence, there are a lot of arguments to both sides of the story and it just seems like they are pumping out paid content more than game content. That being said, I was still leaning toward buying it until I got yesterday's email.

New ship, module based, multi crew, sounds awesome. Can't wait to get in game and work my way up.......what... 450 for a base ship and modules are 50-100 bucks? So this ship costs roughly 900 dollars complete, how freaking long would someone have to play to earn anything near this without dropping 900 dollars? And why is this game feeling more and more like pay to win ?

I also saw the new ship, YES it goes look amazing, and the concept with it is a great addition to gameplay.
About the prices, according to the specialists that the game is creating since it's already so big, the prices are all too high comparing to what they should be when the game comes out. Basically everything can be bought ingame and with "less" ingame money than what is asked now.
The reason why they are supposedly asking for so much now is because they need the money to develop the game, the game is already too massive as it is. Operation costs must be super high, they have workers in the house of hundreds, something like 10 offices in different countries (USA, UK, Germany), they are doing the animation like they are done in movies, it's a really crazy big project and so it must suck money like crazy.
The other reason is because most of that content is suppose to be mid-late-end content and so if people want to have super powerful ships/content they must pay for it and a lot. 900 dollars is not that much if you consider that they had ships going for 1-2-3 thousand dollars before for some ships in "limited edition sales"...
there are a lot of videos on youtube of people explaining this, and also speculating on it (of course).

about getting the game, I want the game and I'll most probably get the game some time in the future. When? probably only when the first single player part of the campaign comes out. (last time I checked it suppose to be 3 parts which with 10 missions)
I played A LOT of Freelancer before (I must have finished the campaing in Freelancer more than 10 times) and if the campaign in starcitizen is as good in freelancer, I will be more than happy with the campaign alone. I'm honestly confident it will have a strong campaign, he has already said that he believes in a strong campaign/story to support the game itself.
If the multiplayer part also turn to be great perfect, even better for me :D
some time ago I saw first hand the hangar and sandbox mod they already have for backers it looked very good and also stable! that alone makes the game very promising.

Yea, i've watched tons of videos . I understand the reasoning and the suspected schema. But this is what blows me. They have made well over 100+million on this game without even releasing anything worth wild, the demo areas realistically shouldn't take them more than a few months to churn out with the team as big as they claim. Movies are made with less cash then 100 million. So where is more content? If the team is so huge stuff should be produced faster. That's what worries me. Last 3 expos they have shown up with practically filler material and have shown nothing that players haven't seen already. So are they stuck?

Also on the world, it's relatively small comparable to no one lives or other games. Their predetermined and limited and instanced. So to me, the multiplayers isn't going to have that huge feel to it. I was hoping for someone along the lines of Star wars Galaxies space expansion but I'm getting worried I will never see something similar to that.

all those reasons and some others is why I will probably wait until the first campaign is out and buy it then.
