In June 2014, the "experimental" version of Rust was released alongside the existing "legacy" version.[7] The decision to rewrite Rust from scratch was due to the unmanageable code in the legacy branch.[8]
Notable differences[9] in the new version include:

I think its pretty decent i used to run a server and it was alot of fun

- The players animations were switched to Mechanim

- New building system
- Biomes
- Stealing
- Cannibalism
